Royal Boskalis' 4000 ton Crane Vessel Conversion

news-details

To strengthen position in renewables, Royal Boskalis decided to succeed the Bokalift 1 project with the conversion of crane vessel Bokalift 2.

Bokalift 2 was originally built as drilling vessel, and was found to be a perfect starting point for a crane vessel conversion. The conversion scope includes the fabrication and installation of steel sponsons on both sides of the vessel to increase the stability of the vessel and the installation of a new work deck. A 4000 ton crane will be installed on the vessel, with the capacity of lifting structures more than 100 meters high.

Crane Vessel Conversion

The vessel is converted at the shipyard Drydocks World in Dubai. After that the Bokalift 2 was deployed for the first time at the Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farm project in Taiwan. The project includes the transportation and installation of 62 three-legged jacket foundations and the accompanying 186 pin piles.

In February 2023, the vessel arrived in the Netherlands for the final outfitting activities for her next assignment: the installation of the foundations of a number offshore wind farms along the east coast of the United States.
